Chiefs Upgrade Arrowhead Stadium for 2026 Season and Fan Events
New seating sections and technology installations will support early fan events as the team prepares for training camp.
How we reported this

The Kansas City Chiefs announced upgrades to Arrowhead Stadium on July 10 that include 2,400 additional lower-level seats and expanded LED displays along the east sideline.
These changes arrive weeks before training camp opens at the team's facility near Blue Ridge Cutoff, giving the organization time to test crowd flow ahead of the September regular-season opener. The work also positions the stadium for larger events during the 2026 calendar, when the venue will host both NFL games and World Cup matches later in the summer.
Facility Changes and Local Ties
Workers began installing the new seating on the stadium's south end in late June, a project managed by the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority. The authority coordinates with Kansas City Parks and Recreation on overflow parking at nearby Penn Valley Park when full-capacity preview events occur. Local youth programs run by the Chiefs Ambassadors Foundation will use the upgraded concourses for a July 25 clinic that brings 400 participants from the East Side and Independence neighborhoods.
Arrowhead's average attendance reached 73,284 last season, according to league figures, and the new sections are projected to add roughly 1,800 paid seats per game. Ticket prices for the August 1 season-preview scrimmage start at $45 for upper-level seats and $95 for the new lower-bowl areas, with proceeds supporting the foundation's after-school initiatives.
Schedule and Fan Access
The first public event using the completed sections is scheduled for August 1, followed by a second walkthrough on August 8. Both dates fall before the team travels to St. Joseph for the annual camp sessions. Fans can purchase single-game tickets through the Chiefs website or at the box office on the Truman Sports Complex grounds starting July 15.
Parking passes for the Truman lot remain $25 for these events, with shuttle service from the River Market available for an extra $8 round trip. Supporters seeking updates should check the team's app or call the ticket office at 816-920-9300 for availability and gate opening times.
